Custom Hero Slideshow



Canterbury competes in the Western New England Athletic Association and in the New England Prep School Athletic Conference at the Division I and II levels. Recent winning seasons and championships reflect our school spirit and the commitment of players and coaches. These include the boys' ice hockey team winning two New England Division I Championships, the girls' ice hockey team winning their own Holiday Ice Hockey Classic and the Princeton Day School Tournament, the football team winning a Class B New England Championship, the volleyball team winning a Western New England title and a wrestler winning a New England Championship and placing at the National Tournament.

Higgins Aquatic Center

William W. Higgins ’53 Aquatic Center, is an eight-lane, 25-yard competitive swim and dive pool, and one of the finest aquatic sports venues in New England.



Canterbury Ice Rink

Canterbury's ice hockey rink gives fans a close but safe view of the action on the ice.

Pigott Arena

Pigott Arena, located within the Alumni Memorial Gymnasium is named in recognition of the generosity of James C. Pigott ’54 and Mark C. Pigott ’72.



Squash Pavilion

Our five squash courts were made possible through the generosity of the Castellini and Saxe families.


Field House


Sheehy Family Field

Dedicated in 2014 and named in honor of Headmaster Thomas J. Sheehy III and his family, through the generosity of the Becker and Mulheren families.


Softball Field

This field was made possible through the generosity of the Becker and Mulheren families.


Fay Vincent, Sr. Field

The field is dedicated in honor of Fay Vincent, Sr. who officiated many games on this field as a young man.


Tennis Courts

A gift of Mark Pigott ’72, the courts are named for Michael Reardon ’72 and Ronald E. Seaman ’47. A court is also named for Alexander L. Fanjul ’69 and A. Nicholas Fanjul ’04

The Ade Family Weight Room and Fitness Center

The Ade Family Weight Room and Fitness Center was made possible by the generosity of Bill and Marjorie Ade and their son, Dylan, Class of 1991.


Sheehan Field

The baseball field and facility is proudly named in honor of Kevin E. Sheehan ’62.
