Facilities

Canterbury competes in the Western New England Athletic Association and in the New England Prep School Athletic Conference at the Division I and II levels. Recent winning seasons and championships reflect our school spirit and the commitment of players and coaches. These include the Boys' Varsity Ice Hockey team winning two New England Division I Championships, the Girls' Varsity Ice Hockey team winning their own Holiday Ice Hockey Classic and the Princeton Day School Tournament, the Varsity Football team winning a Class B New England Championship, the Varsity Volleyball team winning a Western New England title, the Girls' Varsity Lacrosse team winning a WNEPSLA Class B Championship, the Girls's Varsity Soccer Team winning a New England Class C Championship, and a wrestler winning a New England Championship and placing at the National Tournament.

Hamilton Stadium

Completed in November 2021, the stadium includes a turf field lined for lacrosse, soccer, and football; a six/eight-lane track, 340-seat bleachers, stadium lights, and coaching and press boxes. The facility hosts varsity competitions and other sporting events, all-school fun and games, and weekend activities benefiting all of our Saints.

Higgins Aquatic Center

 

 

William W. Higgins ’53 Aquatic Center is an eight-lane, 25-yard competitive swim and dive pool. The state-of-the-art facility is one of the finest aquatic sports venues in New England.
 

 

 

O'Neill Arena


The O’Neill Arena, named in honor of Board of Trustee Emeritus John D. O'Neill ’57, P ’89, boasts the best ice in the region.

Pigott Arena

 

Pigott Arena, nestled in the original Alumni Memorial Gymnasium, is the home court for our Varsity Basketball teams and Varsity Volleyball team.

 

 


Saxe-Castellini Squash Pavilion

With enclosed, interlined bleachers for spectators, the Saxe-Castellini Squash Pavilion boasts five renovated practice courts, each with an installed game-tech monitoring system to track matches point-by-point.


Field House

The multi-purpose floor possesses three basketball courts to serve our teams throughout the winter season as well as indoor training space for lacrosse, field hockey, baseball, and softball. The facility also has a retractable batting cage.


Sheehy Family Field

The Sheehy Family Field, an advanced turf field dedicated in 2014, services our Field Hockey teams and Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse teams.

 


Softball Field

The Softball Field is a state-of-the-art softball facility with field irrigation and an appended enclosed batting cage.
 


Fay Vincent, Sr. FIeld

The well-conditioned grass field upholds Canterbury’s long-standing tradition of excellence in athletics and recognized football program. The Field is one of the oldest continuous playing fields in the state and boasts a natural spectator venue.

Tennis Courts


The eight tennis courts on the southern side of Canterbury’s campus provide a beautiful backdrop for the Saints tennis teams at the varsity and sub-varsity level to practice and compete.


Wrestling Room

This space comfortably fits two full mats on the upper-level of the Field House. With an attached entrance to the Weight Room, it has the capacity to host wrestling practice while teams can use the open indoor area for practice and dynamic stretches.

The Ade Family Weight Room and Fitness Center

Located on the second level of the Field House, the Weight Room is a state-of-the-art facility with four power stations, twelve aerobic machines, twos sets of 12-100 lb dumbbells, assorted benches, and eight cable training machines.

Sheehan Field

The Sheehan Field sits at the top of our hilltop. The facility offers a new outfield fence, newly conditioned clay infield, and a freshly sodded infield turf with irrigation as well as a home and visitor bullpen and 75-foot batting cage.
