Annual Spring Athletic Awards Dinner
5/24/2012
Athletic Director Dave Wilson presided over the annual spring athletic awards dinner last night, May 23, in Steele Hall Dining Room. The event was an opportunity for coaches to recognize the efforts of Canterbury’s top athletes. The evening began with the presentations of the coach’s and MVP awards. Coaches then presented the Alumni Awards and Sixth Form Awards, including the Charles R. Huntington Scholar-Athlete Award for Girls and the Robert M. Steele ’72 Scholar-Athlete for Boys. Assistant Athletic Director Misi Babington presented each three-sport varsity letter winners with a Canterbury blanket, and Dave Wilson recognized the teams that had great seasons.
The newest addition to the annual award ceremony is the Don K. Gowan III Basketball Award. Don died unexpectedly on May 7, 2012. George-Ann Gowan, Don’s mother, spoke fondly of the basketball team and Canterbury community for their unyielding support.
