A Heartwarming Show
On the eve of Valentine’s Day, Canterbury’s Affair of the Heart Concert in the Steers Center was all about love, friendship, and a bit of heartache.
Featuring the Canterbury Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Varsity Voices, Canterbury Singers, and solo vocalists, the concert evoked emotions of romance and affection with a blend of classic and contemporary love songs. Performing Arts Chair Christopher Rich was excited to see the students share the spirit of the day through their music.
“Our performing arts students dazzled the audience,” Chris said. “The concert allowed them to explore music from the American Songbook, Broadway and film, a classical repertoire, and the pop charts while expanding and perfecting their technique and performance skills. They should be proud!”
Saints musicians relished the opportunity to express their passion on stage. “This is more casual than our typical concerts, so we can choose songs we like and engage more with the audience,” said soprano and flutist Yuge “Ingrid” Fu ’26. “Performing a solo or duet is a precious opportunity. The experience was so meaningful to me.”
