Gridiron Greats: Saints Celebrate Football Commitments

Six student-athletes and two coaches sit and stand behind a table with the Canterbury crest on it. The NEPSAC Football Championship trophies sit on the table's ends. They are all wearing ties and an assortment of quarter-zip pullovers and blazers and appear festive but stoic.

It was a banner year for football at Canterbury. In November, the Varsity team faced off against St. Mark’s School at the Joe Lang Bowl, securing the NEPSAC Championship in a thrilling 20–13 victory. For Sixth Form students on the team, the championship was a crowning achievement of their high school football experience. But for many, their accomplishments as Saints mark just the start of an exciting journey in the sport.

On February 16, the School recognized those who have committed to continuing their football careers at the collegiate level during a special commitment ceremony. Surrounded by family, teammates, and coaches in the Brodie Room, students proudly wore their future college colors as they celebrated this milestone. The event honored commitments to half a dozen colleges and universities and highlighted the hard work, perseverance, and dedication that have defined these outstanding athletes.

Congratulations to the following members of the Varsity Football team…

  • Nasir Arguello – University of New Haven
  • Daniel Batstone – Trinity College
  • Brendan Buda – St. Lawrence University
  • Mychal Walker – Franklin & Marshall College
  • Drew Fitzgerald – Endicott College
  • Malachi Gibson – Wagner College
