“Passionate, Engaged & Driven”: Sixth Form Students Celebrated at the Honor Society Reception

The Class of 2026's Honor Society inductees stand on the steps of Wallace Mall. The girls wear dresses while the boys wear jackets and ties.

On May 11, Canterbury celebrated members of the Class of 2026 who have demonstrated superior academic performance and positively contributed to the academic culture of the School at the Honor Society Reception.

The Canterbury Honor Society was founded during the 1989–1990 academic year to advance scholarship and foster a love of learning at Canterbury School. Sixth Form students with a cumulative grade point average of 4.0 or above are eligible for membership. This year, 21 Saints were inducted. Head of School Caroline Blatti offered welcoming remarks while the 2025 recipient of the J.P. Mandler Teaching Award, Alison Bailey, Director of the Donovan Center for Learning, served as the evening’s guest speaker.

Dr. Emily Allen, Dean of Academics, offered personal remarks about each student, highlighting their tenacity and curiosity in the classroom as well as their accomplishments in the arts, athletics, and School leadership.

“You represent a selective and accomplished group of students who have not only challenged themselves in the classroom, but found true academic achievement,” said Dr. Allen. “You are the epitome of integrity, dedication, and impact. As a group, you have taken a combined total of 304 honors, Advanced Placement, and Syracuse University Project Advance courses at Canterbury. You have all spent long nights studying, writing, researching, rehearsing, and creating. Each and every one of you has been described by words like ‘passionate,’ ‘engaged,’ and ‘driven.’ You are our next generation of doctors, engineers, artists, humanitarians, lawyers, writers, ethical leaders, and more.”
