'Put Me Where Things Need to Get Solved'—Sam Storch Molloy ’07 Meets with Women of Canterbury

For 35 years, the Women of Canterbury (WoC) club has inspired young women to embrace their leadership potential on the hilltop and beyond. One such alumna, Samantha “Sam” Storch Malloy ’07, recently met with current WoC members for an insightful lunch chat. Sam discussed her career, being a working mom, making time for her MBA, and how, sometimes, the problems that seem the least interesting can be the most compelling.

After graduating from NYU, Sam began her career with magazine publisher Condé Nast, where she focused on editorial partnerships and executive projects. After serving in senior roles at Rent the Runway, she accepted a position at Peloton Interactive, a job offered to her by a former boss. Sam had one request for her new role: “Put me where things need to get solved.”

Sam was named the brand’s General Manager of Third Party Retail and is responsible for identifying and working with corporate partners to expand the company’s reach. But this growth inevitably raises logistical problems, and Sam wants aspiring leaders to understand these complications as opportunities. Every business, from finance to fitness brands, is full of myriad details that someone has to figure out, from profit margins to product placement within a store.

“These challenges sound really boring,” she explained, “but the things that seem the least interesting can actually be the most fun.”

Members of WOC wanted to know all about those not-so-boring details and asked lots of questions about identifying retailers, secret shoppers, and even tariffs. They also wanted to know what it’s like to be a working mom, and what inspired Sam pursue an MBA at Yale later this year.

“I found Sam to be extremely engaging, and her career is very impressive,” says Peyton S. ’26. “She was truly inspiring.”

Canterbury is always happy to foster a connection between generations of Saints. Thank you for coming home to the hilltop, Sam!
