Sixth Form Saints Take Their Final Bow in Year-End Concert
With emotions running high and the spotlight shining bright, Canterbury’s final concert of the year was a night to remember as music students from the Class of 2025 joined their peers onstage one last time. The Modern Melodies & Beyond concert featured the Honors Contemporary Band and Contemporary Band delivering powerful performances and heartfelt farewells.
“This was my last concert at Canterbury, so I knew I had to make it count. That gave me some anxiety but also elevated my performance,” said Patrick Toon ’25. “The audience brought the energy we were hoping for. They had their phone flashlights in the air for the last song! It was one of our best concerts in my four years here.”
The evening showcased iconic hits from Journey, Queen, Bruno Mars, Adele, and more, plus original grooves from our creative students.
“I was excited to see the seniors performing alongside some of the younger musicians they have mentored, passing the baton in true Canterbury fashion,” said Director of Music David Overthrow. “It was a great chance to celebrate everything they brought to our community through their music. The entire ensemble put tremendous effort into this concert, and it showed.”
Patrick, who is attending Berklee College of Music in the fall, was grateful for the opportunities Canterbury afforded him as a musician. “The things Mr. Overthrow teaches cannot be learned from a book—like how to work with other musicians, how to entertain people, and how to put on a show beyond just standing there playing,” he said.
All of these fabulous singers and musicians brought down the house with their energy and talent:
