Spring Serenade Brings Harmony and Joy to the Hilltop

Spring Serenade Brings Harmony and Joy to the Hilltop

Canterbury’s Spring Serenade, the final concert of the school year, left the audience with full hearts and student musicians with lasting memories.

Held in the Chapel of Our Lady, the evening showcased the musical talents of the Canterbury Orchestra, Chamber Ensemble, Canterbury Singers, and Varsity Voices performing a mix of classical, film, TV, musical theater, and pop music.

It was a special moment for Studio and Performing Arts Teacher Hafez Taghavi and Performing Arts Chair and Vocal Music, Piano, and Acting Teacher Christopher Rich. “Mr. Taghavi and I were so proud of these students as they excelled in their most ambitious program of the year,” Chris said. “Their growth as musicians was on full display both in their refined technique and more developed performance skills.”

A member of Canterbury Singers, Jialing “Jolin” Cao ’28 has been interested in singing since she was a young child, and she is grateful that Canterbury has so many music courses to choose from. “Mr. Rich has done a great job encouraging me to be confident in my voice and teaching me music theory,” Jolin said. “It was an honor to sing in this concert, and I loved it when we dedicated the last song—‘For Good’ from Wicked—to the graduating seniors.”

Congratulations to Chris, Hafez, and our exceptional music students for a joyous and enchanting concert:
