Congratulations...you're in!

Definitely! You'll have plenty of opportunities to meet other new students before classes begin. Your first chance is during one of our Accepted Student Days (Wednesday, April 1, or Saturday, April 4).

Plus, before classes start, we've set aside two days on campus for orientation activities. These are all about helping you meet other students, get to know each other, and start building friendships.

At Canterbury, what you wear in class should show that you're here to focus and take your academics seriously. That means dressing neat, clean, and put-together from 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on weekdays, until 12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and for Sunday Mass and Brunch.

Classroom Dress – Keep It Polished
Wear this:

• A button-down shirt, polo, or blouse (tucked in)
• Chinos, corduroys, or a skirt
• Dresses (as long as they’re not strapless)
• Sweaters (cardigans, quarter-zips, or V-necks) over a collared shirt or blouse
• Canterbury gear that follows these rules

Not allowed: Hoodies, sweatshirts, t-shirts, joggers, leggings, jeans, shorts, slippers, flip-flops, baseball hats, or headphones in class.

Saints Formal Dress – Dress to Impress
At least once a week (usually Tuesdays) and for special events, you’ll need to step it up with:

• A dress or skirt with a dress shirt and formal shoes (strapless dresses need a cardigan or blazer)
• A blazer, button-down shirt, tie, chinos/khakis, and formal shoes

Saints Spirit Dress – Show Your School Pride
On Spirit Dress days (like game days), you can swap the formal look for Canterbury gear: A Canterbury top, sweatshirt, or shirt with jeans, sweatpants, joggers, or leggings.

We're excited that you're eager to start learning at Canterbury! After you've officially enrolled, you'll begin choosing your classes. Our academic advising team will help you figure out what you're interested in and what you're good at, and they'll guide you through picking your classes for the upcoming school year. They'll look at your transcripts and teacher recommendations from last year to create a suggested class schedule for you. Over the summer, they'll send you this proposed schedule. If you're happy with it, great! If you have any questions or concerns, just reach out to them, and they'll work with you to make any necessary adjustments. Don't worry if you're not sure about the level of a particular course—there's a two-week Add/Drop period at the start of the year, so you can make changes to your schedule if needed.

Early September. Your exact move-in date and orientation schedule will be included in your summer materials.

Move-in day is an exciting and busy time at Canterbury! You and your family will be greeted by our welcoming Student Life team, who will guide you through the registration process. After you've registered, you can start moving your belongings into your dorm. And don't worry, there will be plenty of faculty and student volunteers around to give you a hand and make sure you feel at home.

We’ll share a detailed Packing List this summer—everything from bedding and dress clothes to small touches that make your dorm feel like home.

Orientation is designed especially for you! You’ll meet your classmates, teachers, advisors, and dorm parents, explore campus, and start settling into life on the hilltop. You’ll learn how your daily schedule works and connect with student leaders who will guide you through those first few days.

You’ll walk your class routes, learn where everything is, and take part in activities that help you feel at home before the first day. Orientation is all about giving you comfort, confidence, and a community that’s ready to stand beside you from day one.

We know that starting a new school is a big deal—it's exciting but can also be a bit daunting. At Canterbury, we're all about making you feel welcome and supported. Our orientation program is here to help you get used to life on campus, meet your new classmates, and discover all the resources you have at your fingertips. Plus, our amazing faculty—your teachers, coaches, advisors, and dorm parents—are always ready to help you out, whether it's with your studies, making friends, or just dealing with all the emotions that come with this new chapter at Canterbury.

At Canterbury, the school year is structured to keep you engaged, challenged, and supported, with a balance of academics, athletics, activities, and time to recharge.

Each year is divided into two semesters—fall and spring—packed with exciting traditions, competitive sports seasons, and plenty of opportunities to grow inside and outside the classroom.

You’re never on your own here. Your advisor, dorm parents, student proctors, and the Student Life Office are all in your corner from the moment you arrive, ready to help you settle in and feel at home.

You’ll also be matched with a First-Year Mentor (FYM) over the summer. FYMs are friendly fifth and sixth formers (juniors and seniors) who volunteer to help new Saints find their footing. Two mentors work with a small group of new students, so you instantly have people you can go to with questions, hang out with during Orientation, and rely on during those first weeks. You’ll hear from your FYM in July—they’ll be one of the first Canterbury faces you get to know.

As a day student, you’re fully part of the Canterbury experience. You’ll move through classes, athletics, clubs, and activities right alongside your boarding friends, and you’re welcome in every space on campus. Most day students stay well beyond the last class for practices, rehearsals, or time with friends, and many return for evening or weekend events. You head home at night, but your days are every bit as connected, busy, and meaningful as life in the dorms.
