Career Development

Whether you are a well-established professional or just beginning your career, you can help fellow Saints in their employment pursuits by:

  • Speaking to the student body about your industry or career
  • Providing workshops or webinars in your area of expertise
  • Participating in career panel discussions
  • Hosting or attending networking events with students and alumni
  • Conducting mock interviews or reviewing resumes
  • Providing job shadow or internship experiences at your workplace
  • Promoting employment opportunities within your organization
  • Reunion

    Reconnect with your classmates and get involved in planning your most memorable celebration yet! Reunion volunteers assist in a variety of ways, including:

  • Chairing your Class Reunion Committee
  • Planning Reunion weekend program and events
  • Encouraging attendance
  • Reconnecting classmates by researching current contact information
  • Fundraising for a class gift
  • Athletic and Affinity Groups

    Go beyond the traditional class structure and interact with those with shared interests or similar Canterbury memories and experiences by:

  • Connecting with others who participated in the same sports, clubs, or activities that engaged you as a student
  • Supporting current Canterbury athletics and student groups
  • Promoting the success of Canterbury sports and activities in your community or professional circles
  • Regional Network

    From the hill and beyond, the network of Canterbury alumni reaches around the world. Reconnect socially and professionally with fellow Saints in your region by:

  • Initiating an alumni chapter in your area
  • Planning, hosting, or simply connecting with others at Canterbury-sponsored networking receptions; social, cultural and athletic events; or community service projects
  • Offering advice to fellow alumni relocating to your area
  • Reinforcing ties between current students and alumni in your area
  • Class Representatives

    Keep classmates connected and ‘in the know’ of all things Canterbury by:

  • Communicating with classmates by letter, email, or phone
  • Collecting news of classmates’ accomplishments for the Pallium and website
  • Nominating classmates for alumni awards and honors
  • Encouraging attendance at Homecoming, social and networking receptions, and other events
  • Connecting on social media, sharing posts, and tweeting news and events
  • Updating the School of classmates’ whereabouts and contact information
  • Assisting with Annual Fund gift solicitations

  • Admissions

    As an admissions volunteer, you provide a strong link between prospective students and the School simply by sharing your knowledge and experiences. Admissions volunteers help to recruit prospective students by:

  • Representing Canterbury at school fairs
  • Writing notes or making phone calls to accepted students
  • Hosting a reception for prospective families in your local area
  • Visiting schools in your local area

  • Advisory Committees

    Lend your talent and expertise to your Society of Alumni. As an SOA Volunteer advisor, you can work alongside the Executive Committee to implement alumni programs and services that will directly benefit your fellow Saints and the School through:

    • Strategic planning
    • Marketing and communications
    • Technology and website development
    • Video and social media
    • Event planning and entertainment
    • Graphic design
