Coaches
Head Coach Matt Biggart
Matt Biggart joined Canterbury in 2018 as a member of the History Department following seven years at Avon Old Farms in Connecticut, where he taught history and coached the Cross Country and Track & Field teams. Matt graduated from Bates College in Maine with a bachelor’s degree in history. He was a member of the Varsity Cross Country and Track & Field teams at Bates.
Assistant Coach Charlie Gaetjens
Charlie Gaetjens has taught Mathematics, History, and Social Science since joining the Canterbury faculty in 2020. He was a Varsity Track & Field athlete at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, where he earned a dual bachelor's degree in Spanish and Economics. He went on to receive his MBA from Yale School of Management.
Assistant Coach Ryan Rebstock
While earning his bachelor's degree in English at the University of New Hampshire, Ryan Rebstock competed for the Wildcats on the cross country and track and field teams. He coached the track and cross country teams at New Milford High School for 10 years and continues to run and compete in local races. In addition to his coaching duties, Ryan is Director of Library Services & Archives at Canterbury. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Denver.
Assistant Coach Kathryn Segner
A Science Teacher at Canterbury, Kathryn Segner earned an M.A. in Chemistry from the University of Chicago and a B.A. in Chemistry from Vanderbilt University. Prior to joining Canterbury, she was a Teaching Assistant and Graduate Researcher at the University of Chicago.
Assistant Coach Anne DeSousa
Anne DeSousa spent nearly 20 years as an English Language Arts teacher in Connecticut prior to coming to Canterbury. She has served on the faculty of Brookfield High School, St. Aloysius School in New Canaan, Ponus Ridge Middle School in Norwalk, and Middlesex Middle School in Darien.
