Varsity Volleyball
Playing in its fourth consecutive postseason tournament, Volleyball was crowned the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class C champion for the second consecutive year in 2024 after having won the title in ’23. The team competes in District 4 of the NEPSAC and has made the tournament nine times since 2001, when it finished as the Western New England champions. Over the course of the program's history, numerous student-athletes have continued their volleyball careers on the collegiate level.

Addi Lau dominated on the court with strong kills, great digs and aggressive serves. Maleah Dunn also served very well for the Saints as did Lily Dorfman. Lily also set well for the Saints. Sam Salmans, Hannah Gleason and Fran Masi had strong hits and played well at the net. Katie Davenport, Chrisy Ding, Maleah Dunn and Olivia Tonelli each played well in the back with great digs and and some impressive saves. Hannah Soifersmith took advantage of getting into the match and was the recipient of the Herrington Award, as voted by her teammates. Hannah had a strong dig, a great set and was supportive to her teammates throughout the match. The Saints are now 5-4 on the season. | |

Coaches
Head Coach EJ Soifersmith
EJ Soifersmith first came to Canterbury as the head coach of Varsity Volleyball in 2005 while working as the Director of Neighborhood Services at Community Action Committee of Danbury. Soon after, she became the School's Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Student Activities. While earning her bachelor’s degree at Rutgers University in New Jersey, EJ played Division I volleyball and was named captain in her junior and senior years. She was the first woman inducted into the Eastchester High School, New York, Sports Hall of Fame in 2005. Currently serving as Canterbury's Director of Community Life, EJ also is the head coach of the Girls' Varsity Basketball team.

Assistant Coach Greta Massey
Greta Massey joined the Canterbury community as an Assistant Director of Admission. While earning a bachelor’s at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, Greta was a four-year member of the Women’s Lacrosse team, serving as captain her final two years and earning second team All-Liberty League honors in 2018. She has been working with Harlem Lacrosse—most recently as Senior Program Director—and served as the Director of Junior Tennis at East Chop Tennis Club on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts and a Ski Instructor at Vail Resorts in Park City, Utah. Greta is also Head Coach of Canterbury's Girls' Varsity Lacrosse team.
