Girls' Swimming & Diving

Girls’ Swimming & Diving competes in NEPSAC Division 3 and participates in the league’s Swimming & Diving Championships at the end of each season. Practices and home meets are held in the William W. Higgins ’53 Aquatic Center, one of the finest aquatic sports venues in New England. Girls’ Swimming was Western New England Division III Champions in 2006-07 and 2007-08. The Swimming & Diving team was New England Class C Champions in 2014. In addition, the team has had several New England champions in individual events in recent years, particularly in the 50 Free, 100 Free, and Diving.

Diving Coach Sally Ruderman

In addition to serving as the Diving Coach, Sally Ruderman has been coaching crew at Canterbury since 2018 and has coached at several summer programs such as Dirty Water Boat Club in Boston, Massachusetts, and ARION out of Saratoga, New York. Sally rowed all four years in high school and continued to row for Wellesley College, Massachusetts on their three-time NEWMAC championship team in Division III. She is also a USRowing Referee and spends many weekends in the spring, summer, and fall working at local, regional, and national races at the high school, college, and masters levels.
 

Assistant Coach Ian Ferrara

Ian Ferrara serves as a Physics Teacher at Canterbury and supports the Donovan Center for Learning science lab. He has worked as Summer Camp Aquatics Director at Camp Echo Bay in New Rochelle, New York, and as a Water Safety Instructor providing swimming lessons. Ian is also a semi-professional musician creating content as a solo artist.
