Boys' Varsity Hockey
The Canterbury boys’ varsity hockey team competes in the highly-respected New England Prep Hockey Conference. The Saints have won the New England Prep School Division I Championship two times (1994 and 1997) and claimed the Hockey West League Championship three times since its formation in 1998. Canterbury has earned a New England Tournament bid ten times, with its latest appearance coming in 2014.
The program’s competitive culture and focus on individual skill development, has helped numerous player’s transition to the next level. Recent graduates have gone on to play at Northeastern, Lake Superior State, UNH, West Point, Holy Cross, Union, Hobart, Babson, Wesleyan, Dartmouth, Connecticut College, St. Michael’s, RPI, RIT, Quinnipiac, Skidmore, Colby, Tufts, St. Anselm’s, Trinity, Manhattanville, Norwich, Penn State, Clarkson, and Stonehill among others.
Paddy ‘94, an alumnus of Canterbury’s hockey program, is the head coach of Boys’ Varsity Hockey. While a student at Canterbury he was a member of the 1994 Division I New England Champion team. Following, Paddy matriculated to St. Anselm College, NH where he played NCAA hockey for the Hawks. Paddy has led the hockey team to three recent small school New England tournament appearances in 2014, 2016, and 2018. He was awarded the Vincent J. Reilly Coach of the Year Sportsmanship Award in 2012.
