Dedicated to Service

Canterbury believes that our students should commit themselves to returning the good fortune in their lives to those in need.

To that end, we seek to instill a sense of responsibility for, and dedication to, a lifetime of volunteer service, whether that be locally, nationally, or internationally.

While community service is not a requirement at Canterbury, the majority of students choose to participate, often alongside our faculty. Just some of their service activities include volunteering in food banks, nursing homes, social service agencies and animal shelters, as well as working with disadvantaged families, students in local schools, and athletes in the Special Olympics. They can also take part in two exceptional experiences abroad—one in Nicaragua, where they work on projects designed to help break the cycle of poverty, and another in Lourdes, France, where they assist the visiting sick in completing their pilgrimage to the Marian shrine.

I've been going to the nursing home every Monday as community service. We chat with the people there, and sometimes I play piano for them. We also did a fashion show. I never got to do this kind of thing in Korea.
