On the evening of May 1, Archbishop Leonard P. Blair confirmed 21 Canterbury students and 11 students from neighboring parishes during a Mass in the School's Chapel of Our Lady.
Theology teacher and deacon Frank Bice '77 prepared the confirmation candidates over the course of several months. He presented them to the Archbishop.
Prior to the receiving the sacrament, students, their parents, and additional guests gathered in Steele Hall Dining Room for a delicious meal.
The Schola Cantorum, Canterbury's student singing group, performed two selections, including the high-spirited "How Can I Keep From Singing." Four student sacristans (altar servers) assisted during Mass.
In his homily, Archbishop Blair told the students who were about to be confirmed, "The Holy Spirit enlightens and strengthens us to live as children of light through all that is good and true and right."
Following Mass, Rachel Stone, head of school, hosted a reception in the Brodie Room for all guests.
