Students, faculty, and additional community members gathered for Lessons and Carols on the evening of Thursday, December 14, in the Chapel of Our Lady. The event, celebrated annually by Canterbury, included seven "lessons" (readings from Scripture) and a variety of holiday carols in the spirit of Advent.
Attendees began the evening with a spirited rendition of "O Come All Ye Faithful" and concluded with an all-School rendition of "Joy to the World".
Varsity Voices, Chorale, and Community Choir led the seven lessons and carols, accompanied by Choral Director Sarah Armstrong and instrumental accompanists.
The annual Christmas dinner preceded Lessons and Carols, which for the first time continued on the lawn outside of the Chaplain's residence. There, community members gathered for a tree-lighting ceremony, which was followed by servings of hot chocolate in the Chaplain's home. The student-led Multi-Faith Council organized and led the after-event.
Congratulations to all those students and faculty who made this year's performance a successful and spirited evening. Many additional thanks to those who organized and participated in the first annual tree-lighting ceremony.
