On March 29, Lorelai Lee- wanek '21 was presented with one of the first place awards at the Little Mozarts Music Competition, an annual music competition open to instrumentalists of all levels in the US and Canada. Lorelai auditioned with her submission of a rendition of Rondo Capriccioso by Mendelssohn against applicants across North America. Given her placement, Lorelai will perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City in May, her first of two spring performances at the acclaimed concert hall.
Lorelai's recent success comes on the heels of her performance in another, local piano contest. She has been selected as a finalist in the Connecticut Steinway Piano Competition and will participate in the final round later this month.
Earlier this year, Lorelai placed third at the American Protege competition. She will be performing at Carnegie Hall in June 2018 with other top finalists.
A talented pianist, Lorelai spends her afternoon activity time practicing her music. She is currently enrolled in Orchestra/Classical Chamber with Fine Arts faculty member Hafez Taghavi.
Congratulations, Lorelai!
