Mohammed Zakyi '17 was one of twenty-two players selected to the 2016 American Family Insurance ALL-USA PreSeason Soccer Team based on past performance, level of competition, and strength of schedule. Only players from that compete in the fall season were considered.
Zakyi, a forward, scored 28 goals and passed for 20 assists a year ago, leading Canterbury to the New England Prep School Athletic Council Class B tournament quarterfinals. A Western New England Prep School Athletic Association All-Star, Zakyi is one of eight returning starters for the Saints.
"Mohammed Zakyi, among others players on the team, has been a vital piece in the process of turning the Canterbury soccer program around and putting the program on an upward trajectory," says co-varsity coach Shawn Ganow. "Zakyi is a student-athlete who is as dedicated to being the best and most influential player on the soccer field as he is to being a positive role model for the Canterbury community. Canterbury and the soccer program are extremely proud of Zakyi for the recognition he received for his dedication, determination, and the dynamic skills that he brings to the game."
