As students prepare to return home for the Christmas vacation, many varsity athletes will represent Canterbury over the holiday break at competitive tournaments across the east coast.
Girls' Varsity Basketball travels to compete at the Ethel Walker Tournament on December 15. The team plays Hamden Hall Country Day at 7:00 p.m., followed by two additional games on December 16, pending the outcome of the first.
Boys' Varsity Basketball is also competing at a multi-day tournament on December 15 and 16, hosted by The Hill School. The team challenges Western Reserve Academy at 8:15 p.m. on December 15, with two additional games on Saturday pending the outcome of the first.
Several members of the wrestling team travel northward to Tabor Academy to compete at Battle on the Bay on December 16. Those competing include Captains Adrian DeCola and Henry Morgan who will make the trip with coach Kevin Conroy to challenge several of the top east coast teams.
Girls' Varsity Hockey is also making the trip northward, heading to Rhode Island to compete at Portsmouth Abbey. The girls take the Ravens at 5:00 p.m. on the evening of December 15, then challenge Proctor Academy at 7:30 a.m. on December 16, followed by the Pingree School at 1:00 p.m. the same afternoon.
The girls are also participating in a tournament on January 1 and 2 at Winchendon School. Canterbury competes against Cushing Academy at 8:30 p.m. on January 1, followed by a game against Northfield Mount Hermon at 9:30 a.m. on January 2.
Boys' Varsity Hockey travels south to Lawrenceville School for a tournament on December 15 and 16. The boys challenge Nichols School at 3:30 p.m. on December 15, Taft School at 1:30 p.m. on December 16 and Lawrenceville at 7:15 p.m. the same evening.
The team will also be competing at Cushing Academy on December 28 through 30. The boys compete against Thayer Academy at 3:30 p.m. on December 28, Dexter Southfield School at 9:00 a.m. on December 29 and Culver Academy at 7:50 p.m. the same day.
Finally back at Canterbury towards the end of the holiday vacation, the Boys' Varsity Hockey team quickly begins their post-break schedule with a home game against Williston Northampton School on January 3 at 4:00 p.m. followed by a January 5 game at Gunnery School at 7 p.m.
