Frequently Asked Questions

Are all parents invited to attend their child's classes this year?

Faculty are excited to include you in their lessons!  All parents are encouraged to join their child during “mini-classes” on Friday and Saturday mornings to see our students and teachers in action. By attending both days of Parents' Weekend, you will have the opportunity to visit all of your child's classes.

Where do the students have dinner on Friday?

A casual dinner will be provided in the dining hall for all families and students on Friday evening. Parents are also welcome to take students off campus for dinner.

Parents are cordially invited to attend the Benefit Auction (adults only please, as alcohol is served). The Benefit is a cocktail and (heavy) hors d'oeuvres reception held from 7:00 - 9:00 PM in the Copley Library.

The Benefit Auction is a highlight of our Parents' Weekend program during which our families connect, share their Canterbury stories, and enjoy a festive evening. All families are encouraged to participate in this community event. Please click here to register.

Can I take my child off campus during Family Weekend?

Yes. We ask that boarding students check in with their dorm parents before leaving campus and that all athletic commitments have been met.

Where should we go for faculty conferences?

Faculty will be available in the Athletic Center:

Friday afternoon (1:30 to 3:00 PM)
Saturday morning (11:00 AM - 12:30 PM)

You will receive a list of your child’s teachers in your registration materials.

Are all teachers available for conferences?

Most teachers will be located in the Athletic Center Field House during conference times; however, those that coach a sport may need to leave a little early. Names of those teachers will be posted.

Do I need to schedule faculty conferences?

Appointments are not necessary. Faculty will be available in the Athletic Center Friday afternoon (1:30 to 3:00 PM) and Saturday morning (11:00 AM - 12:30 PM). At the welcome table you will receive a list of the names of your child’s teachers.

How much time can I expect to get with each teacher?

You should have sufficient time with each teacher to receive and give feedback on your child’s progress in the class. We ask parents to limit their time to five minutes so all parents have an opportunity to meet with teachers.

Do students have classes on Saturday morning of Family Weekend?

Yes, students have classes on Saturday morning - and all parents are encouraged to attend.

When do students return to campus after Family Weekend?

All boarding students must return to their dorms by 7:00 PM on Tuesday evening, October 22. Classes resume for all students Wednesday morning, October 23.
Please Note: Most Fall Varsity teams will practice Tuesday afternoon.

Where do we park on campus?

Parking is available in the three main parking lots (on Elkington Farm Road, near Sheehan House and near the tennis courts on the lower campus) and one handicapped parking lot (near the Higgins' Aquatic Center). Please use the map to guide you to these lots. Staff will also be available to direct you once you arrive on campus.

I am handicapped and require special assistance, what are my options?

Please contact Terry Rice in the Advancement Office with your needs. We are happy to help! Or call (860) 210-3914.
