It was exciting enough for Chad Walker ’06 to be selected as an athletic trainer for the U.S. Men’s National Team at the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship—and then the team won gold! Chad joined the squad as one of two athletic trainers during the 2025 tournament held last spring in Herning, Denmark, and Stockholm, Sweden.
The conversation was all about marketing when Canterbury alumni in the field—Christopher Jeyes ’06 from Ferrari North America, Christina Milano-Damaskos ’09 from Athlon, and Raymond Zulauf ’06 from NBCUniversal—reconnected with fellow graduates during a recent virtual Career Connections session.
The numbers don’t lie…Myles Gythfeldt ’24 made a significant impact during his highly successful freshman year with the Colby College baseball team. The talented shortstop posted a .408 batting average, second in the conference, along with a .480 on-base percentage and .957 OPS. Myles’s 53 hits were also second in the NESCAC.
Richard Ritacco ’06 stood before AP Chemistry and AP Biology students as living proof of the wide range of difference-making science careers. At IDEA Pharma, Rick leads a global consultancy team that helps pharmaceutical and biotech companies maximize the potential of their products and improve the lives of patients.
Our standout Saints earned plenty of accolades at the Spring Athletic Awards Assembly this May in Maguire Auditorium, with one feat receiving the loudest applause—the Canterbury-FGS Cup coming back to the hilltop!
We were delighted to learn that seven of our students were recognized by UNA-USA and InnerView in the eighth Annual Community Service Impact Awards: Joseph Pieksza ’27, Isabella Pilch ’27, Maeve Prendergast ’27, Catherine Zeng ’25, Miguel Garcia ’26, Allegra Linero ’27, and Grayson Mengold ’26.
This year’s Canterbury theater students may be young, but they have plenty of talent and, now, three Halo Awards and seven nominations to celebrate. The contingent of staff and students who traveled to the Palace Theater in Waterbury, Connecticut, for the awards ceremony was overjoyed when the Canterbury winners were announced.
Students at the Sixth Form Awards Assembly received an added bonus on the eve of their graduation—heartfelt encouragement from Canterbury’s 2025 Alumni Award recipients. Thomas J. Sheehy III Distinguished Alumni Award honoree Barron Collier ’75 and Outstanding Young Alumni Award recipient Christina Milano-Damaskos ’09 shared advice and support for the soon-to-be graduates.
The energy was high as Canterbury School celebrated its 108th Commencement Exercises for 93 Saints in the Class of 2025 on Friday, May 23. Forty-five of those graduates were diehard four-year members. The festive ceremony was held on Sheehan Lawn with faculty, staff, family, alumni, and friends in attendance.
Steadfast dedication to community service has earned Canterbury student Natalie H. ’28 the President's Volunteer Service Gold Award, the highest level of this prestigious national accolade. She became eligible for the award by completing nearly 140 volunteer hours in libraries near her home in New York’s Hudson Valley.
Canterbury’s Spring Serenade, the final concert of the school year, left the audience with full hearts and student musicians with lasting memories. Held in the Chapel of Our Lady, the evening showcased the musical talents of the Canterbury Orchestra, Chamber Ensemble, Canterbury Singers, and Varsity Voices.
Canterbury baseball won the WNEPBL Tournament championship in thrilling fashion, capping off a tremendous season with a dominant 11-2 home victory over Cheshire Academy in the title game on Sheehan Field. It was the first-ever baseball title for the Saints and Head Coach Todd Mathewson.
Graduation for the Class of 2025 is a week away, and our Saints are excited and ready for the next step in their journey! This exceptional class is primed for success—76% of students have earned college merit scholarships, 83% were accepted to Barron’s Profile of American Colleges “Most and Highly Selective” schools, and 37% are playing college athletics.
Five of Canterbury’s most talented student artists stepped into the spotlight as they showcased their creative achievements for the School’s AP Art Show. The exhibit featured an impressive range of work—from intricate drawings to bold brushwork—offering a glimpse into the depth and diversity of student expression.
Family members looked on proudly as 27 Sixth Form students were welcomed into Canterbury’s Honor Society at a special reception in the Steers Center Ragland Commons. The Honor Society was founded during the 1989-1990 academic year to advance scholarship and foster the love of learning at Canterbury.
Showing their appreciation for one of the most beloved members of the Canterbury community, the Class of 2025 dedicated its yearbook, the Cantuarian, to Dining Server Luz Burns during a recent School Meeting in Maguire Auditorium.
With emotions running high and the spotlight shining bright, Canterbury’s final concert of the year was a night to remember as music students from the Class of 2025 joined their peers onstage one last time. The Modern Melodies & Beyond concert featured powerful performances and heartfelt farewells.
